Tools & Platforms You Will Learn During Meta Ads Course

Meta gives businesses the ability to reach different audiences across Facebook and Instagram—but effective advertising is about more than simply creating a post and promoting it.

  • It starts with understanding the audience and business objective,

  • choosing the right campaign objective, audience and placement,

  • developing communication that is relevant to that audience, and

  • optimising the available budget for better performance.

This course focuses on the strategy and decision-making behind Meta advertising—not just how to use Meta's advertising tools.

Meta Advertising Suite

Meta provides the tools businesses use to plan, create and manage advertising across Facebook and Instagram.

  • Meta Business Manager helps organise business and advertising assets.

  • Meta Ads Manager is where campaigns are planned, created, managed and analysed.

  • Meta's advertising tools provide options for audience targeting, campaign objectives, budgets, placements and performance measurement.

This course focuses on understanding how these tools work together and the strategy behind using them effectively—not simply learning where to click.

AI Tools used in Meta Ads Course

  • AI Tools — ChatGPT and Gemini are supporting tools that can help you develop social media ideas, shape audience-specific communication, and refine content more effectively.

AI can help develop social media content faster, but effective Meta Ads campaigns still depend on understanding the audience, choosing the right campaign objective, creating relevant communication, and optimising performance.

About Meta Ads (Social Media Marketing)

What Is Meta Ads?

To understand Meta Ads, we first need to understand outbound marketing.

Imagine a business scenario: James has opened a bicycle shop in Delhi. He wants people in and around the Delhi region to know about the shop, its latest collections, and the offers it's providing. So he chooses to run ads on Facebook and Instagram to get the message out to his audience.

This is the essence of outbound marketing — a business proactively reaching out to its audience, even when the need may not yet exist, to create visibility or generate demand.

Social media is one of the key channels within outbound marketing. Just like social media ads, targeted cold emails aimed at a purchase database are another example of outbound marketing.

Now, when a business tries to reach its desired audience using advertisements on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, this is called Meta Ads.

How Meta Ads Started ?

What we now know as Meta Ads began as Social Ads, launched by Facebook on November 6, 2007. At launch, it was a simple self-serve platform — advertisers created an ad and targeted it by basic demographics and interests. There was no "choose your objective" system yet; that came later, when Facebook introduced goal-based objectives like Page Likes, App Installs, and Clicks around 2012.

I personally remember running a Page Likes campaign around 2012 for Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital, paying roughly ₹8 per like — even though, technically, that's not quite how the auction worked under the hood, that's how it felt from the advertiser's seat at the time.

For years, Facebook Ads was the only real option in Meta's stable. That changed when Instagram introduced advertising in November 2013 — though at first it was limited to a small group of hand-picked brands, not something any business could set up. Self-serve access through Facebook Ads Manager arrived in 2015, followed by the simpler Boost Post feature in 2016, which let anyone turn an existing post into a quick ad in a few taps.

Today, Facebook and Instagram together form the backbone of Meta's advertising ecosystem and are the primary channels within social media marketing.

Where is Meta Ads now?

  • From roughly ₹600 crore in revenue the year Facebook launched ads, to ₹5.2 lakh crore in a single quarter (Q1 2026) — Meta's journey is nothing short of incredible.

  • That puts Meta right behind Google, which posted ₹7.3 lakh crore in advertising revenue for the same quarter, making Meta the second-largest advertising platform in the world by revenue.

  • Meta is a widely trusted ad platform used by businesses of every size around the world, offering exciting ways for businesses to stay connected with their customers. It does this through a range of campaign objectives — Awareness, Traffic, Engagement, Leads, App Promotion, and Sales — each designed to help a business achieve a specific marketing goal.

  • Meta is also a major employment generator, supporting a large ecosystem of social media marketing professionals across the world.

Why Business Use Meta Ads?

  1. Cheaper than Google Ads (in India)

    • Meta's average cost per click (CPC) in India runs around ₹9–14 (roughly $0.11–$0.17), while Google Search Ads in India typically cost ₹20–150+ per click, depending on the industry — rising to ₹300–600+ for competitive sectors like finance, insurance, or legal. That makes Meta 5–10x cheaper per click than Google Search in many categories — a real, measurable gap, not just a general impression.

  2. Almost everyone is on social media

    • Facebook has roughly 694 million users in India, about 47% of the entire population. Instagram has roughly 553 million users, about 37% of the population. That's an enormous, mobile-first audience businesses can reach without waiting for people to actively search for them.

  3. Built for visual storytelling

    • Meta's ad formats — Reels, Stories, carousels, and video — let a business show a product or service rather than just describe it. This matters a lot for categories like fashion, food, fitness, or anything visually driven, where a search ad's plain text link simply can't compete.

  4. Low entry barrier and flexible budgets

    • A Meta campaign can start with a daily budget as low as a few hundred rupees, making it accessible to small businesses — like James's bicycle shop — not just large advertisers with big budgets.
